Welcome to the London Mountaineering Club Website

We are here to provide opportunities for our members to take part in mountaineering and climbing activities, and to meet and socialise with others with similar interests. We promote adventure, enjoyment and safety.

Information for Prospective Members

With over 400 members, the LMC are able to provide a large and varied programme of mountain related activities- primarily hill walking, scrambling, climbing and mountaineering.

The club holds monthly socials at the Devereux pub in central London, with lectures from members and guest speakers. Recent guests include John Arran, Kenton Cool and Jerry Gore.

Members can also be found at the London climbing walls (The Castle, Westway, Mile End)

Our meets (trips away) program is very comprehensive- there's something on almost every weekend, in the UK or abroad. Recently, we have had overseas trips to The Himilayas, The Dolomites, Costa Blanca, Norway, Fontainbleu and Solvenia. We also organise annual trips to The Alps. There are also special meets such as: Navigation Course, First Aid Course, Climbing Tuition Meet, Bonfire night and Burns night.

To keep its members up to date, the LMC publishes a regular club magazine- "The London Mountaineer". Members also have access to the members only section of the club website, which includes a discussion board for members to communicate and exchange information.

The LMC also owns a hut (cottage), called Fronwydyr, located in the heart of Snowdonia National Park. It sleeps 16 people, and is available to members and their guests, at extremely reasonable rates.

The club is also affiliated with the British Mountaineering Council. This means that members have access to BMC information and services. Members are also automatically covered by BMC personal liability insurance.

Members also receive discounts on purchases at selected stores, including a 15% discount at all Cotswolds outlets.
