Social evenings are held on the third Wednesday of each month except in December, where the Xmas calendar will dictate the socials. We meet in the upstairs room of a pub called The Devereux at 20 Devereux Court, Temple, London WC2R 3JJ (map).
Socialising starts in the pub from 7pm and the main event kicks off at about 8pm in the upstairs room.
Sometimes we have a purely social evening or a quiz night, but socials are talks and slide or movie presentations by outside speakers or talented club members on climbing and mountaineering related topics.
Join us for the first social of 2019 where Tony Hamza tells us about his recent journey to the Forbidden Kingdom of Tibet. Destinations include Lhasa, the North Side of Everest and a 3-day trek around the sacred Mount Kailash. The holy path climbs to 5600 metres and is still travelled by prostrating pilgrims.
See all the sights on Tony's 30-minute video presentation.
Join us from 7pm and talk starts at 8pm
Join us for this exciting social where Jeremy will be telling us of his adventures from a recent trip to Africa where he travelled with his wife overland from Ethiopia to South Africa over nine months using public transport.
Jeremy will be telling us about his experiences in this beautiful continent - incredible nature, amazing wildlife and stunning scenery from some of the least well known national parks in the world ... mountains, active volcanoes and coastal walks. He will also be sharing stories and giving tips and practical advice about travelling in Africa.
Join us from 7pm and talk starts at 8pm
*****Join us for our AGM on Thursday March 14th*****
The AGM is an important process in determining the future direction of the club so it's important to have as many club members there as we can to ensure everyones voices are heard. From ensuring you get the right candidates for the appropriate committee positions to ensuring everyone can provide feedback and vote, a well run AGM will ensure that preparations for the rest of the year are on track.
Please make every effort to attend the AGM this year. 7pm start.
***Free drink for the first 20 people to arrive***

K2 Concordia Gondogoro La trek is considered to be one of the top 10 treks in the world. Concordia is the confluence of mighty Baltoro Glacier and Godwin-Austin Glacier and home to four of the fourteen 8000m peaks, hence it is often referred to as 'The Throne room of the Mountain Gods'. The idea was to combine this trek with an ascent of a 6000m peak. A small team lead by Zaheer set off in the summer of 2018 to achieve this goal... were they successful?
The journey took the team through stunning scenery and a strenuous walk on the longest glacier outside polar zones. An extension of the trip lead Zaheer to explore climbing opportunities in nearby areas.
Join us for drinks from 7pm and talk starts at 8pm

'It was no longer about the joy of climbing, but simply the struggle of it' Andy Kirkpatrick
Join the LMC for film and pizza night. We will be showing a special screening of the fantastic documentary film by Jen Randall, based on the auto-biography of Andy Kirkpatrick. The film did the rounds at several festivals in 2017 and 2018, but we now have it available to rent for viewing together at the social.
Drinks from 7pm downstairs in the bar. Pizza and film upstairs from 8pm. The documentary is 1 hour 5 minutes long so plenty of time for post film beers to continue.
The pub has a simple food menu of bar snacks only, but we have permission to bring our own food. I am going to order some pizza, so if you want in then please email me on kathryn.sizer@googlemail.com with your dietary requirements, estimated max £10 per person for the pizza. If that doesn't interest you then there are a number of quick eateries nearby and the Devereux crew are more than happy to bring that in.
