September is the perfect time to visit the Polish Tatras, as the mountains are less crowded and the weather is still lovely. The highest peak in the Polish Tatras is Rysy (2503m) with another twenty peaks over 2000m.
For hikers and walkers there are 275 km of marked trails located within Tatra National Park ranging in difficulty from very easy to extremely difficult - many fitted with safety equipment such as chains, iron steps or rope ladders.
For the more adventurous there is the option to walk from shelter to shelter over 2-3 days. There are 8 shelters, all of them at an elevation greater than 1100m. Staying at a shelter costs from £5 - £15 per night per person.
For rock climbers there are 5 large designated mountain areas with wide range of difficulties.
