The club holds monthly socials at The Devereux pub in central London, with lectures from members and guest speakers. Recent guests include Kenton Cool, Jerry Gore and Scott Titt.
Members can also be found regularly at all of London's climbing walls (Westway, Mile End, The White Spider, The Castle, The Reach or The Arch), either as part of a Meetup or simply getting together in a group.
Our meets (trips away) programme is very comprehensive, there's something on almost every weekend in the UK or abroad. In addition to popular destinations such as the Peak District, the Lake District, North Wales and Portland/Swanage, we have recently had trips overseas and to less travelled destinations such as: Lundy, The Himalayas, The Dolomites, Costa Blanca, Malta and Fontainbleu. We also organise annual trips to The Alps and the SMC's CIC hut near Ben Nevis. There are also meets to practise skills or on special themes such as: Navigation Meet, First Aid, Intro to Trad, Bonfire night and Burns night.
The LMC also owns a hut (cottage), called Fronwydyr, located in the heart of Snowdonia National Park. It sleeps 16 people, and is available to members and their guests, at extremely reasonable rates.
There's a whole host of reasons to become a member of the LMC, not least because we receive discounts on purchases at selected stores, including a 15% discount at all Cotswolds outlets! We also like to share our experiences, so in order to keep its members up to date, the LMC publishes a regular club magazine The London Mountaineer. Members also have access to the members only section of the club website.
The club is also affiliated with the British Mountaineering Council (BMC). This means that members have access to BMC information and services. Members are also automatically covered by BMC personal liability insurance.
