Social evenings are held on the third Wednesday of each month except in December, where the Xmas calendar will dictate the socials. We meet in the upstairs room of a pub called The Devereux at 20 Devereux Court, Temple, London WC2R 3JJ (map).
Socialising starts in the pub from 18:30pm and the main event kicks off at about 19:30pm in the upstairs room.
Sometimes we have a purely social evening or a quiz night, but socials are talks and slide or movie presentations by outside speakers or talented club members on climbing and mountaineering related topics.
May talk will be confirmed ASAP.
We also have some gear, and welcome any more, that has been donated to the club which will be sold off on a first come, first served basis. All monies raised go to the Fronwydyr Renovation Fund.
If you have gear to donate please reach out to Adam - Membership Secretary via web contact form / WhatsApp.
We are starting the "short talk series" with the aim of bringing more stories to socials and providing a lower barrier for members to share their escapades. In June, Dai and Stephen will be sharing stories with a common theme...
Dai Richards will be talking about his experiences of attempting alpine routes in winter, mostly around the Mont Blanc Massif. He’ll be discussing logistics, gear, conditions, route selection and how to avoid spending a week in your airbnb in Chamonix looking out the window at a blizzard.
In the same vein, Stephen will talking about his attempt on the Matterhorn.
NB: new updated timings: Drinks from 1830 with talk at 1930.
…Who created it, why and how the pioneers rode Vespas throughout the night to climb in Snowdonia.
Social gathering and drinks from 18:30. Talk starts at 19:30.
