The Club was founded 70 years ago this May. There have been a good few developments in that time and Tony will be showing pictures of some Club activities in the 60’s and his climbing in the 1970’s and 1980’s to mark this anniversary. He hopes to be supported by Club member Jeremy Schwartz whose father was a founder member of the Club.

The AGM is an important process in determining the future direction of the club so it's important to have as many club members there as we can to ensure everyone's voices are heard. From ensuring you get the right candidates for the appropriate committee positions to ensuring everyone can provide feedback and vote, a well run AGM will ensure that preparations for the rest of the year are on track.

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the first ascent of Annapurna 1 by Maurice Herzog and his French team, Tony Hamza travelled to the rarely visited North Base Camp.

This evening Tony tells the story of the 1950 Annapurna expedition and shows a video of his own adventure.

Hi climbing gang! With the summer season in full swing, Wednesday’s social is a chance to meet up with fellow climbers to plan your summer of adventures. We don’t have a booked space in a pub, but I am suggesting meeting at the old social spot, The Deveruex, WC2R 3JJ, for a pint and a catch up (the Star of Kings has a ticketed event for the footy fyi). They do show sport at The Devereux so either run for the hills if you don’t want to get caught up in the madness, or stick around together to watch the big game (is it coming home?!). I suggest meeting from 6.30pm onwards . Alas I can’t make this one, but happy socialising, have a great summer and we’ll be back with a full schedule of socialising in September!

At Home is a lecture from a member or guest about adventures on a subject of mountaineering.

Lecture from Jon Armstrong: For over two decades, Jon has served in some of the British Army’s most unique regiments including Royal Gurkha. He has survived in some of the most inhospitable, extreme and awe inspiring corners of the world, including the high Arctic, where he skied amongst polar bears, the jungle where he annoyed a green viper and the Atlantic where he was hit in the head by a flying fish.
During his talk, Jon will tell stories from his adventures (and misadventures), giving a glimpse of what life at the very edge of endurance.
