NOTE: CHANGE OF SOCIAL LOCATION FOR 2026!!!
Social evenings are held on the third Wednesday of each month except in December, where the Xmas calendar will dictate the socials. We meet in the upstairs room of a pub called The Star of Kings at 126 York Wy, London N1 0AX (map). It's a short 10 min walk from Kings Cross station.
Socialising starts in the pub from 18:30pm and the main event kicks off at about 19:30pm in the upstairs room.
Sometimes we have a purely social evening or a quiz night, but socials are talks and slide or movie presentations by outside speakers or talented club members on climbing and mountaineering related topics.
The Club was founded 70 years ago this May. There have been a good few developments in that time and Tony will be showing pictures of some Club activities in the 60’s and his climbing in the 1970’s and 1980’s to mark this anniversary. He hopes to be supported by Club member Jeremy Schwartz whose father was a founder member of the Club.
Social gathering and drinks from 18:30. Talk starts at 19:30.
Going to the Alps in 1952
Please note: we are still confirming the venue for this month's talk.
The AGM is an important process in determining the future direction of the club so it's important to have as many club members there as we can to ensure everyone's voices are heard. From ensuring you get the right candidates for the appropriate committee positions to ensuring everyone can provide feedback and vote, a well run AGM will ensure that preparations for the rest of the year are on track.
Please make every effort to attend the AGM this year.
Social gathering and drinks from 7pm. Formal meeting starts at 7.30pm.
***Free drink for the first 20 people to arrive***

This evening Tony tells the story of the 1950 Annapurna expedition and shows a video of his own adventure.
