Wye Valley - Camping
2 Jun 2006 to 3 Jun 2006

Climbing at the Wye Valley - one of the closest areas to London for multi-pitch trad climbing. Will probably be climbing at Wintour's Leap, and Shorncliffe.

The Great Overhanging wall at Wintour's Leap has finished undergoing restoration:

After years of neglect and re-vegetation, the 250 feet high GO Wall at Wintour’s Leap, has been restored to its former glory. Over the last 4-5 months thanks to the work of Martin Crocker and John Willson, the BMC's GO Wall project has cleaned up 50 or so routes and re-equipped them (where necessary), mainly like-for-like basis. There is still some loose rock, but essentially this excellent crag is back in business and is worth a visit. The work has been carried out with the full agreement of English Nature and Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, and with financial support from the Access & Conservation Trust. The Climbers’ Club is now hard at work on the next guidebook for the area. Many thanks to all those involved with the project - particularly Martin, John, Libby Houston (ecological work), Emma Alsford and Paul Donnithorne (tree surgery work), and others. If you haven’t done classics like King Kong (HVS), Kangaroo Wall (E2) or the Jackal (E4) – now’s the time.

We'll be camping at Beeches Farm. Details for the campsite can be found here: http://www.offasdyke.demon.co.uk/w28050.htm
