Himalayan meet - Annapurna Wilderness and Peaks
12 Oct 2007 to 4 Nov 2007

The Annapurna region in Nepal offers some of the finest mountain scenery in the world. To appreciate the vistas and avoid the crowds we will spend the first half of the expedition trekking through a total wilderness area. Our porters will carry all the food plus equipment and there will be a team of kitchen boys, a cook and climbing Sherpas. We will cross the difficult and remote Namum La pass and then, once acclimatised, we will set up our highest camp at over 5400m. From there we have 2 days to attempt an impressive but straightforward 6100 metre peak – Thorong Ri. On our flight out we fly between Annapurna and Dhaulagiri!

This Meet is intended as an introduction to the Nepal Himalaya mountains for LMC members with some winter walking experience and basic alpine skills. The Meet is not a training course.

Tony Hamza, who has visited Nepal over 20 times, will be Meet Steward for the expedition.
