With the accommodation booked (2nd time lucky) at the hostel in Kinloch Castle this is a chance to go to a very special island with a fascinating history and great mountains. www.isleofrum.com Rum is a National Nature Reserve, and we will be there (hopefully) pre-midge season. The mountains owe their names more to the vikings 'Askival, Trollaval and Barkeval', than to the Gaels. The traverse of the Rum Cuillin is regarded as a good prec-curser to doing Skye, and with Dan Bailey giving it a guide book time of 10 hours, including a moderate climb its no mean undertaking. Accommodation is booked from Thurs night to Sunday night inclusive.Combine this trip with the sleeper/train to Mallaig and then ferry and you'll be embarking on the quintessential Highland and Island get-away with a chance for a few ticks too (but not of the Munro variety).
Meet full, sorry
