Shetland Puffin Meet
26 May 2023 to 4 Jun 2023

Yes, there's climbing in Shetland! Who knew? Have a look at this UKC article by Martin Kocsis to whet your appetite!

There is quite a lot of info on this site: shetlandclimbing.info

Guide Book on Amazon

Whilst a lot of the climbing is on remote sea cliffs (which can be very committing if you have not done this before) there does appear to be climbing at all grades and a smattering of inland crags too.

Don't worry if sea cliff climbing is not your thing as there will be opportunities for walking and other activities as well (including possibly taking bikes with us).

We will be staying at Voxter Outdoor Centre. near Brae in the north of Shetland. This is close to where the majority of the climbing is.

Voxter is booked for Saturday night through to the Thursday morning. At that point the group are free to explore the island for two nights (Fri/Sat) until we return on the ferry on the Saturday night (3rd June).

As things currently stand (Feb 2023), the absolute cheapest way to get to Shetland will be by driving from London. With 3 people to a car this works out at around £200 each. Flying and driving (on a similar 3 per car basis) works out at around £675.

The current plan is to drive up on Friday 26th May to Aberdeen and then take the overnight boat arriving on Shetland on the Saturday morning. We will return on the Saturday night boat on 3rd June and return by car to London on 4th June.

Current plans suggest we have enough cars leaving from London to accommodate the whole group.

Please email the meet steward if you are interested and bookings will open in February.
