Kalymnos Sport Climbing Meet
10 Oct 2026 to 18 Oct 2026

Kalymnos is one of Europes premier limestone sport climbing destinations with over 3000 bolted routes. There are a range of different styles of climbing from grey slab/vertical, tufas, overhanging routes, cave climbing etc.
With grades starting at 4a there is climbing here for everyone climbing at all grades.

Crag selection is one of Kalymnos’ biggest advantages. As no car is needed once you are on the island. With hundreds of sectors spread across the island, you can always find something in condition. A lot of the crags can be reached within walking distance from Masouri. If you do find you want to try crags further out, you can rent a scooter on a daily basis to travel to other crags on the island. There is also another island called Telendos which you can take a 30min boat ride to for a day trip climbing. Routes are longer on Telendos and the routes start from Slab to Vertial to Overhang, this is a good area to take strategic rests on route to maximise chance of sending.

I would recommend bringing 18 draws plus lower off equipment. Rope length 70-80m with 80m being preferred.

The rock can be quite sharp on some of the routes so if you are like me and have soft sweaty hands it would be advisable to start using RhinoSkin Dry and/or Performance/Tip Juice products daily starting 7 days before the trip to toughen the skin. I use a mixture of Oreillys working hands and beeswax post climbing to maximise skin performance.

Travelling
========

Below are the suggested flights from Stansted (KGS Kos is the destination you will be flying to from London, if you want to look for better suited fights)

Suggested Flights: https://www.jet2.com/en/cheap-flights/london-stansted/kos?from=2026-10-10&to=2026-10-18&adults=1&children&infants=0&scid=3A3A3DC8&bound=ib

Once you land in KOS you will need to get a cab from outside the airport to Mastihari bay there are usually loads of cabs lining up. Then a ferry from Mastihari to Kalymnos. The ferry tickets can be purchased online or at Mastihari, I prefer to get the ticket at Mastihari so you can find the best time suited ferry. When you get of the ferry you will then need one more cab to your place of stay.
